Public Water:

We have access to 4 public lakes to guide on. Each lake offers something a little different, and you have shots at both numbers of fish and trophy fish depending on which lake you fish.

North Delaney offers the best shot at a trophy rainbow, cuttbow, or brown trout. It is a finicky fishery, and is usually a “quality over quantity” fishery. Bites can be few and far between at times, but often result in a monster.

South Delaney is a bit more of a numbers fishery, but still offers the chance at a giant rainbow, cuttbow, cutthroat, or brown trout. Most of the fish in the lake average in the 12-18 inch range, and they are usually a little more eager to eat than the North fish.

East Delaney is the best numbers fishery out of the three, and is a great spot to get a couple trout for dinner. Fish usually average 10-16 inches in east, and the action can be hot and heavy at times for numbers of fish.

Note: all 3 of the Delaney Buttes lakes are artificial flies and lures only, and special slot limits are in place to protect the fishery. Browns between 14-20in must be released, Rainbows and cuttbows between 18-22in must be released

Lake John is the largest of the lakes that we fish, and has both good numbers of fish as well as a shot at a trophy. Lake John has rainbows, cuttbows, and Snake River cutthroats, mostly averaging 12-18in. There is a good population of trophy fish present as well. Lake john allows bait fishing, and typically produces good numbers of fish with a few shots at larger ones as well.

Private Water:

We also have access to several incredible private lakes, offering both unpressured fish and solitude from other anglers!

Buffalo Creek Reservoir is a large private lake located on the beautiful Buffalo Creek Ranch about 25 miles south of Walden. This lake offers great numbers of fish in the 18-22 inch range, as well as a good shot at a trophy fish. Rainbows, cuttbows, and tiger trout are all present in the lake, and are usually pretty aggressive and willing to eat!

House Reservoir is a smaller lake also located on Buffalo Creek Ranch. It offers good numbers of fish in the 16-20in range, as well as some larger fish. Rainbows and cuttbows are the main species in House. This lake is a fun lake to get good numbers of fish, as well as having a shot at a very large fish.

Clayton reservoir is another lake located on Buffalo Creek Ranch. It has good numbers of tiger trout, as well as some trophy rainbows in it as well. It is a relatively small but deep lake, and grows some giants!

Note: All fishing on Buffalo Creek Ranch is Catch and Release only

Meadow Creek Reservoir is a large lake located on the east side of the valley near Gould. It has great numbers of rainbows and cuttbows from 12-18in, as well as a shot at a giant fish. There is a small piece of public water on the dam of the lake, but we have access to most of the north side of the lake.

Keeping fish:

On public water trips (North Delaney excluded), You are allowed to keep 2 trout 12-18 inches. Your guide will clean fish for you on the lake. All private water trips are catch and release only.
